Raheen Community Alert

There will be a meeting next Monday October 15 at 8.30pm in the ICA hall in Raheen. Would all committee members and area representatives please attend. Contact Kevin at 0879614235 for further information.

ABBEYLEIX ICA

October meeting held in Social Service on Tuesday October 2 at 8pm. President Pat O Halloran presided, meeting opened with prayer and my land. Vote of sympathy with Violet Rathwell and Helen Cruickshank on recent brevements. Thanks was expressed with guild for helping out with happy heart collection.

Five members will attend dysart group meeting on October 17 in Cullahill. Also take part in Breast Cancer walk on Sunday October 14 in Portlaoise. A group will attend Portlaoise Musical in Dunamaise Art Centre in November. The Federation Choir resumes on Monday October 8 at 7.30. Christmas raffle was arranged. President Pat O Halloran gave a report from federation meeting in Borris-in-Ossory. Laois week in An Grianan will take place June 10-14 2013. Helen Cruickshank gave talk on harvest Festival in Church of Ireland. Meeting ended with supper served by Mary Carroll. Next meeting is November 6 at 8pm. Hostess for November is Gertie Thornton.

DANCING

Every Thursday in Abbeyleix Golf Club. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12pm. €8 including tea and coffee.

JUNIOR HOCKEY CLUB

Training resumes Sundays in Fr Breen Park. 2 and 3 classes and 5 and 6 classes 9.30 to 10.30am. U 14 10.30 – 11.30am, U16 11.30 – 12.30pm. New members always welcome.

Storytelling

Every Thursday in Abbeyleix library between 3pm and 4pm there is storytelling and singing for children aged 3-6 with Lesley. All are welcome. Call Walter and Aideen on 057-8730020 if any queries.

Knitting

From Tuesday October 9 the Abbeyleix Library Knitting Club kicks off. It will take place between 11am and 1pm each Tuesday. If interested give your name at the desk or contact Aideen and Gillian on 057-8730020.

Reading session

On Friday November 9 Niamh Sharkey author will conduct a reading session for 6-8 year olds at 3.30pm in Abbeyleix library. Booking is essential. Call Walter or Dorothy on 057-8730020.

Adult book club

Abbeyleix Library will be starting an adult book club very soon. It will be between 6pm and 7pm one Thursday every month. If interested people can inform any library staff members or tel 057-8730020. Details of the start date will be announced later.
