Session in D’House
Heritage House Company wish to train a community based group of musicians, dancers and singers in the art of stage performance in order to create an attractive tourist contribution in Abbeyleix.
They wish to retain the local oral and aural traditions of the county, therefore it will focus on the local tunes and songs giving them a living presence in the community. It is envisaged over the longer term that this will transform itself into a part of the local community culture itself.
The project will be utilising the tuition of professional performers acknowledged by the industry as innovative and successful in order to develop a musically competent core group who will thereafter be empowered to play regularly. We plan to cater for a group approximately twenty to forty who have already demonstrated a proficiency in music, dance and singing but who do not have the necessary “stage craft” or experience.
This compliments one of the objectives of heritage house to develop and maintain the living tradition of the music, song and dance within the community.
