COMMUNITY ALERT NEWS

The committee are finalising plans to get the signs and text alert system up and running. A newsletter will be distributed shortly outlining what is planned for the Ballyroan area. The text alert system is up and running in other local areas including the Heath, Timahoe and Rathineska and has proved successful in giving people in those areas peace of mind.

ATHLETIC CLUB NEWS

The first in our Get Fit For Summer fun runs takes place in Abbeyleix on Wed April 10 at 7:30pm. This is a 4k run and registration takes place in Morrisseys from 6:15 with refreshments and spot prizes after. The runs will continue every second Wed from then with a 5k in Ballyroan on April 24. A meet and train will be organised from the first Friday of the longer evenings for those who are just starting out. Keep an eye on our FB page for times etc. Training continues Tues eve at 7:30pm and new members are always welcome.

MACRA NEWS

Durrow abbeyleix macra would like to wish both our men and women’s basketball teams the best of luck in the upcoming Macra na Feirme basketball finals in UL Limerick on the May 24. Both teams won the county round of the competition and will now represent Laois in the competition. If you are interested in joining our club or for more information please contact Joe on (085) 7665838.

GAA NEWS

The CLUB would like to thank all who have purchased the county board draw tickets. Membership is included to those who would like to enter the 3 remaining draws @ the cost of €113. With a top prize of €10,000 and numerous other cash prizes its worth an entry.
