Camross parish recently hosted two beautiful weddings, one in each end of the parish.
Geraldine Scully, eldest daughter of Mick and the late Kathleen, wed Sean Kirwan from Rosenallis parish. The ceremony was performed by very Rev Fr Lalor PP assisted by very Rev Fr Walsh from Rosenallis parish. The ceremony took place in Killanure last week. Catriona Dooley, daughter of Joe & Kathleen Dooley, wed Thomas Casey from the parish of Clonaslee. Again Fr Lalor did the ceremony assisted by Fr O’ Reilly of Clonaslee. This ceremony took place in Camross church.
The churches were decked out to the last with beautiful flowers. Both receptions were held in Birr and a huge crowd attended both weddings. Both couples headed to America for their honeymoons. They are wished every happiness in their lives together.
The above group held their monthly meeting on Wednesday of last week. The new chairman Frank McGlynn presided and he hopes to have the new bingo machine purchased by the end of October and all those taking part in bingo outings must be paid-up members. Otherwise we are not covered by insurance. The fee is €10.
The above guild held their monthly meeting on Tuesday of last week. New President Maud McGlynn presided having recently come back from Turkey where herself & Frank had spent a couple of weeks in glorious sunshine. Votes of sympathy were passed with the family of the late Billy Guilfoyle and with Molly Delaney & family on the death of Willie Leahy.
Congratulations were extended to the camogie girls on their recent victory.
We all hope to attend the charity coffee evening in Clonohill Laois Angling centre on Friday, October 12 from 5pm to 9pm in aid of Laois Hospice Foundation. Your support will be very much appreciated by donating €2 towards a cup of coffee and homemade treats.
Ossory Cycling Club
The first annual general meeting of Ossory Cycling Club will take place on Thursday, October 18 in O’Reillys lounge Rathdowney at 8.30pm. It is hoped that all members can attend, and those who would like also to join our club will also come along.
