Legion of Mary

The annual trip to Knock Shrine, organized by Durrow Legion of Mary will take place on Sunday September 30 leaving the church car park at 9am sharp. For more information please contact Donal Bowe.

Community Pre School

Durrow Community Pre School are holding a new and used clothing collection to raise funds for the school. For each 10 kg bag of clothes collected the school will receive 5.50 euro and for each old mobile phone 2 euro. The committee of the pre school appeals to everyone in the parish who have used or unwanted clothes that are in a clean condition, old shoes, handbags, ties, linens, household textiles, stuffed toys. If you can help please contact Sheila in the school at 087-7769567 or Debbie at 087-4192077 to arrange the drop off or for collection. The final date for this is 9.30am on September 26. Please be generous and help fund our wonderful community pre school.

Stars in your Eyes

The fantastic local show featuring local stars will take place in The Castle Arms Hotel on Saturday November 3. The line up is being kept very secret and all artists will start rehearsing very soon. If you would like to take part don’t hesitate to join us there is always more room for more budding or experienced talent contact Evelyn on 987 9194428 for details.

Durrow Development Forum

The DDF are holding their AGM on Thursday September 27 at 8.30 in the library. During the meeting the scarecrow festival The All-Ireland Pride of Place and the projects such as the plan of the Square will be discussed. If you are interested in any of these please drop in and see what we can do and how you can also help. This year has been a very busy one for the Forum but after a very successful Scarecrow Festival we are ready to build on it and have an even greater one in 2013. Smaller projects such as Daffodil Planting Stars in Your Eyes Strictly come dancing and St Patrick’s Day festival will also be on the agenda.

Lotto

there was no Jackpot winner. Winners on the night were 30 euro Trish Boyhan 25 euro Alice Gleason 20 euro Mick Fitzpatrick. Next draw for a possible 2,950 will be held in Castle Arms Hotel. Tickets must be handed in by 9.30 on night of draw.

Fitness for Fun Pilates

A new session of Pilates commences on Tuesday September 18 of September from 8.30 – 9.30pm in the Castle Arms Hotel Durrow. The cost is 50 Euro. Places are limited so booking is essential. Contact Margaret on 0868547710

St Tighearnachs Church Pastoral Council

Cullohill church fete will take place on Saturday September 22 following 5pm mass in the church grounds. Come along and enjoy fun for all the family. Later on come and enjoy the cabaret from 9.30 in O’Connell’s Pub. Tickets 5 euro at the door or from committee members. Raffle on the night. All money raised will be used to fund painting exterior walls of St Tighearnach’s Church.

Fishing

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Paddy Holohan Memorial Cup. There were some fantastic trout caught, the winner was Alan Dwyer, 2nd was Seanie Delehunty and 3rd was Niall Donoghue.

Whist

The Killermogh parish whist drive resumes on Thursday September 27 at 8.30pm in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow. Hope to see all card players there and enjoying a great night out.
