Mountmellick CS rocks at the Picnic

MOUNTMELLICK’S Communergy will be showcasing all their hard work at Electric Picnic this weekend. Communergy is a group of six fifth-year students from Mountmellick Community School, and they will be represented this weekend by their mentors, Ms O’Connor and Mr Heavey.

The group will be showing off their Communergy iPad, which they used in the energy saving competition, One Good Idea. It shows all the steps they took to get to the final, at which they won the title of junior winner. At their tent they will also be doing some fun games for the people at the Electric Picnic to get involved in, and hopefully this will give them a better knowledge of energy saving and make them more energy-aware.

At the Electric Picnic the group will be located in the Global Green Area, under the Laois Environmental Action Forum tent. Their aim is to once again tell everyone about Communergy and spread awareness of saving energy. The Communergy team itself consists of Amanda Dempsey, Jennifer Dooley, Chloe Dunne, Colm Strong, Eoghan Quigley and Oliver Peake.

The team is very determined to help people save energy and to spread the Communergy name everywhere they can. The group have had a lot of support from the local community throughout their campaign and they are really grateful for all those who helped and participated.

The campaign thus far has been a great success and the group hopes that at Electric Picnic they can spread their ideas and messages further and to a wider audience. The group will be at the Electric Picnic from Friday August 31 until Sunday September 2.
