GARDEN CLUB
Mountrath Garden and Flower Club are meeting up again after our summer break. The next meeting will be on Tuesday September 11 at 8pm in St Fintans Hall, Mountrath. Edwina Cuddy will give a demonstration on card making. All are welcome, new members and old.
TABLE TENNIS
Mountrath junior table tennis club, All Ireland team champions. We cater for beginner up to leading provincial and Irish players from many parts of Leinster. Small number of spaces available for new members 8-12yrs who would like to find a club or take up this olympic sport. SCOUTS
Sponsored cycle will be held Saturday September 8 to raise funds for the annual camp.
Local cyclist Martin Phelan will cycle from Dublin to Mountrath. The scouts will meet up with him in Portlaoise and cycle to Mountrath with him where refreshments will be provided. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
HOMEMADE JAM
The sale of homemade jam continues in Costcutters and in Phelan’s shop in Castletown. The proceeds of this goes to the Laois Hospice Portlaoise. Your support is greatly needed. Thanks to all who have supported.
OLD TIME DANCING
Every Sunday night in Portlaoise GAA centre from 9.30pm to 11.30pm for only €7. Music will be supplied by Peter Burke this coming Sunday night, September 9.

WEEKLY CLEAN UP
Various members and volunteers of Mountrath Tidy Towns committee, which is a sub-committee of Mountrath Development Association, will be meeting every Thursday evening at the car park on Main Street at 7pm, weather permitting, for a quick tidy up of the town. This usually involves picking up litter and keeping an eye on areas which might need a more thorough cleanup by our local Fás scheme participants. All are welcome to come along for the odd half hour or so from 7pm to 8pm.
OUTDOOR GYM
The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.
