Bishop Daniel Delaney memorial

The organising committee on the Bishop Daniel Delaney Commemorative Plaque as is situated on the Rushin Road Bridge, Mountrath welcome the postive comments. CYBERBULLYING SCHOOL MEETING

A meeting for parents on cyberbullying takes place on at Mountrath Community School on Tuesday, February 5. The have been organised by Mountrath Community School Parent’s Association. Ms. Siobhan McCarthy Vice Principal will speak about How parents should talk to children about cyber-bullying and not wait until it happens. She will also provide information about safer mobile phone and internet use and how they can be used in a negative way. She will speak about when to intervene in cases of cyber-bullying. How young people can be given confidence to respond effectively to cyber-bullying. She will also advise on evidence saving, reporting any incidents to the service provider and/or the Gardaí. Ms McCarthy will also outline the school’s policy.

There will also be a wide-ranging talk on Internet Safety presented by Mr. Tom Mullen (CEO Techcheck). He will speak about everthing from the internet and how to access it to policing the use of the web. The talks will start at 7pm sharp. There will be a short interval and tea and coffee will be served. There will also be a Q&A session at the end of each talk. Entrance to the talks is free and all are welcome. COUCH TO 5k RUN/WALK

A group from Mountrath are now into their 4th week of training and there is still time for people to join in. Training sessions are Tuesdays & Thursdays meeting up in Castletown outside the ICA hall at 7pm, and on Sunday mornings either outside Costcutters at 10am or Castletown ICA hall at 6pm. LATE PETER BENNETT

Condolences to the family of the late Peter Bennett, Paddock, Mountrath who passed away on January 29 peacefully at home. Beloved husband of Agnes, loving father of Seamus and Miriam, loving brother of Eddie, Mary, Una, Katie and Bridie, predeceased by his brothers Seamus and Pat. Sadly missed by extended family, neighbours and friends. Reposed at his residence followed by removal to St Edmund’s Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass last Thursday followed by Burial in Churchtown Cemetery.
