Mountrath & District Camera Club
Many thanks to the talented Dominic Reddin from Mountmellick Photographic Society for his time giving us all a very encouraging and helpful talk recently. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 12th March, METAC, Mountrath at 9pm, just after Alf Harvey’s Photography Course. Theme is ‘Motoring’. Photo size must be 8 x 6. One photo per person only. We must also say a very big welcome to our newest members, it is so good to see new people joining every night and getting involved. Don’t forget this club is for anyone (adult) with an interest in photography or wants to take up photography as a new hobby and to socialise. New members are always very welcome.
TABLE QUIZ
Table Quiz which takes place at Mountrath Community School on Friday March 8th commencing at 7pm sharp. Quizmaster for the night will be Tom Mullen who promises entertaining questions to suit all ages. A table for 4 will cost €20 with all proceeds going to support school projects. If you don’t have enough to make a team then just come along and we will find partners for you. Businesses in Laois have been very supportive and there will be fantastic prizes on the night.
LAOIS HOSPICE
€1500 was donated to Laois Hospice during 2012 from the sale of homemade jam which was made by Mary Doheny and sold by Costcutters and Phelan’s Shop Castletown. We would like to thank everyone for their support for this worthy cause buying jam donating fruit and jars. The sale of jam contines in these shops.
COUCH TO 5k RUN/WALK
A group from Mountrath are now into their 7th week of training and there is still time for people to join in. Training sessions are Tuesdays & Thursdays meeting up in Castletown outside the ICA hall at 7pm, and on Sunday mornings either outside Costcutters at 10am or Castletown ICA hall at 6pm. MOUNTRATH AND DISTRICT CYCLING CLUB
A meeting will take place on Friday March 8 in Eddie Phelan’s restaurant with a view to establishing a cycling club to cover Mountrath and surrounding areas.
