GOOSE CLUB

Ratheniska Annual Goose Club will be held on Sunday 9th Dec starting at 7.30pm.

ICA News:

Ratheniska ICA members wish to thank all who supported their recent Coffee Morn and Cake Sale. It was a great success thanks again to all supporters and helpers. Cookery Demonstration will continue on Wednesday 28th Wednesday 5th December ,starting at 8 pm. Everyone welcome come along your cooking will be inspired,also tasting of dishes cooked. Two of the members are off to An Grianan this week. The members are planning a night out next week to get the Christmas season off to an early start. Next ICA federation will be held in Ballylinan on Sunday, November 25.

PLOUGHING

After weeks of speculation and whispers, it was finally announced last week that Ratheniska would have the honour of hosting the 2013 National Ploughing Championships. 70 years on from the last time our little corner of Laois had this honour, next years event will take place primarily on David Carter’s land with neighbouring farmers land also being utilised in to play host to what is said to be the largest outdoor farming event in Europe each year. Up to 700 acres of farmland will be taken over for the course the event, due to take place from September 24th to the 26th giving Ratheniska a “Gathering” event in 2013 to rival all others!

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to Carroll family, Grange Stradbally, on the passing of Mary Carroll who died recently. May she rest in peace.
