Registration for traditional music classes takes place on Friday night, September 7, 7pm – 9pm and on Saturday morning, September 8, 10am – 11.30am. The Friday night classes are mainly for intermediate and senior musicians and the Saturday morning class for beginner, junior and intermediate pupils. Adults (especially beginners) who wish to join the adult class and join in the fun of learning how to play an instrument are very welcome on Friday nights at 9.15pm.

Adrian Dunne Pharmacy is delighted to organize a sponsored indoor cycle event in their Portarlington pharmacy in aid of ‘Fighting Blindness’ and local girl Roslyn Allman is taking part in a tandem cycle in Lake Garda, Italy in September, 2012. Creative Writing Workshop
Award winning writer Jean O’Brien will host a creative writing workshop in Portarlington Library on Friday September 21 from 3-4.30pm. The workshop will cover poetry, short story and memoir. The Blueberry Festival is taking place on Sunday September 16. It is promised to be a fun filled day, with stalls promoting local food, craft, art and community groups. Paschal was retired from the Defence Force which he served on for many years.

Sympathy to the family of Mary Tanner (nee Farrell) Wheatfield, Ardclough, Kildare and formerly of Patrick’s Street, Portarlington who passed away on August 27. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank a number of years ago. She is survived by her dear daughters Lily and Rena, her brother Johnny, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law May, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends. Service took place in Christ Church, Celbridge followed by burial in St Paul’s Churchyard, Portarlington. May Mary rest in Peace.
