The Fisherstown Tractor Run was held this year in aid of St Lukes Hospital, Dublin, for cancer care. Recently three of the organisers travelled to St Lukes Hospital, to present a cheque for �7,000. LATE PETER HOLOHAN

The death has occurred (suddenly) on September 13 of Peter Holohan, of 9 Church Ave, Stradbally. His remains were removed from the Nuns Chapel on Saturday, September 15, to

Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally and following requiem mass on Sunday morning at 11.30am his remains were interred in Ratheniska Cemetery. Pre deceased by his father Tom and brother Martin, he is survived by his mother Kathleen, sisters Mary and Christina, nephew Canice, cousins and his extended family to whom we tender our deepest sympathy. Peter was a keen sportsman being a member of both Stradbally and Ratheniska clubs.

HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING

Laois Hospice Coffee Morning will be held on Thursday, September 20 in St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally from 9am to 1pm.

CULTURAL night

Friday, September 21. Workshops, music, drama and exhibitions. The Arthouse & Library, Stradbally at 7pm. Drama workshop St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally from 5pm to 6pm. For information on any event contact 057 8674342/3. Incidentally the Ratheniska Comhaltas Group will perform in the Arthouse at 4pm and at Market Square during the afternoon.

WOODLAND EXPRESS

The Narrow Gauge Railway will be up and running on the October bank holiday Sunday and Monday, October 28 and 29.

MONDAY NIGHT PRAYEr

The Monday night prayer group has resumed in the Nun’s Chapel and continues every Monday night from 7.30pm.

SCOR NA NOG

The Laois Scor na nOg will be held on Saturday, November 3 in Timahoe Community Hall commencing at 5pm. Open to all GAA members of 17 years or younger who can dance, sing, sell a yarn, play an instrument, be part of a group or even want to test their general knowledge against neighbouring clubs. TIMAHOE COMMUNITY HALL

Meeting on Friday, September 21 at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome to put plans in place for the winter. Any ladies interested in looking after kitchen, groups who wish to use the hall welcome.

AN EVENING OF FLOWERS

Killeshin Union presents an evening of flowers with Jean and Iris on Friday, September 21 at 8pm in the Schoolhouse, Portlaoise Road, Graiguecullen. Light refreshments served and all welcome. Proceeds in aid of the schoolhouse repair fund.

THRESHING AND FAMILY DAY

A threshing and family day will be held on Sunday, September 23. Join us in Vicarstown for a sponsored road run, starting at 12.30pm. Proceeds iin aid of school for children with autusm in Graiguecullen.

No jackpot winner. Numbers drawn were 3, 5, 6, 20. 5 x €40 Kate, Ellen and Grace Miller, Woodview Residents, Caroline Whelan, Mary Barry and Julia Headon. Jackpot next week is €2,600.
