FLOWER AND GARDEN
The AGM of the Stradbally Flower and Garden Club was held on Wednesday, October 3 in St Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally. There was a good attendance and Pauline Harrison welcomed everyone to our 20th anniversary meeting. She gave a special welcome to three new members and paid tribute to all who participated in the club’s activities during the year. Frances Scully gave her treasurer’s report and informed the meeting that the club was in a healthy position. Vera Donohue gave the secretary’s report and thanked the committee and members for their hard work in making 2012 a successful year with a lot of events. The committee was elected for the coming year. Chairperson Dorrie Moran. Assist Brenda Corcoran, treasurer Frances Scully. Assist Mary Whelan, secrerary/PRO Vera Donohue. Assist Mary Fenlon. LATE GORDON CARTER
The death occurred (peacefully) at Portlaoise General Hospital on October 2 of Gordon Carter, Loughehoe, Stradbally. Gordon, beloved husband of Doreen, he will be sadly missed by his loving family Ruth, Mervyn, Wesley and Paul, his sister Alice, brothers Willie and Bertie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many friends. His remains were reposing at his home on Wednesday and following funeral service on Thursday in St Patrick’s Church, Stradbally at 2 o’c. burial took place in Timogue Cemetery.

LATE Billy McDONALD
The death occurred on September 27 of Mr Billy (William) McDonald, No 2, Stradbally Road, Timahoe. His remains were reposing at his home until removel on Saturday last to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe and following 12 noon requiem mass his remains were interred in adjoining cemetery. Pre-deceased by his wife Rita twelve years ago, he is survived by his sons Willie, James and John, daughter Mary, brothers Jimmy, Pat and Martin, sister Margaret, daughter in law Mary, grandchildren and extended family to whom we tender our deepest sympathy.
LATE TOM DUFF
The death occurred (suddenly) at his residence on September 30 of Mr Tom Duff, Orchard, Timahoe. He is sadly missed by his loving wife Sheila, sons Pat and John, daughters Deirdre and Fiona, sister Nora Brennan, sister-in-law Maureen, brother-in-law Danny, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends. His remains were reposing at his residence until removal on Wednesday morning at 10.30am to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe for requiem mass. Interment afterwards to adjoining cemetery.

GARDA RETIREMENT
Garda Billy Delaney retired completing 30 years service on 5 October. The Stradbally native was stationed in Monasterevin since 2000. Garda Delaney has been heavingly involved with the Stradbally GAA club over mnay years The retirement function take place in the Hazel Hotel on Friday 26 October. Tickets cost €20 and are available from Monasterevin Garda Station.
