Sweetview bridge in Abbeyleix will be repaired

THE fence on the railway bridge at Sweetview in Abbeyleix will be repaired in the coming months, senior executive engineer Michael Malone told last week’s meeting of Borris in Ossory electoral area.

“We want to see if work needs to be done on the other side of the road”, he said. Councillor John Joe Fennelly who said that the bridge is a major issue, thanked the engineer and added that it has to look good for the Tidy Towns competition.

“The Tidy Towns committee got it repaired last year. This shouldn’t be left. This happened last December and we’re talking about it in March”. Cllr John Bonham added that it should be done in keeping with the heritage status of the town.
