ON Wednesday November 21 the children, teachers and parents from Rushall NS took part in a WOW day. For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, WOW means Walk on Wednesday.

This was part of their effort to achieve their fourth Green flag on the theme of travel. At 9am everybody congregated at the Pike of Rushall Village. Sennin Gardiner from an Taisce, Sean Fleming TD and members of the Rushall board of management were there to support. Fr Hennessy joined in after morning mass.

Dressed in high-viz jackets and wellies everyone crossed the main road, and walked to the Pike School. It was a crisp, sunny morning and everyone was bursting with energy and enthusiasm. Everything went according to plan with major emphasis placed on safety.

The school extended its thanks to Supervalu in Roscrea who provided fruit and frozen yoghurt, and there was a healthy smoothie for all on arrival at the school. School principal Anne Bergin was delighted with the response on the day.

“We can all do our share to save the environment and live a more healthy life. So let’s hope we see a lot more park n’ stride days in the Pike of Rushall in the future”.
