Irish Life Health Novice & Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country – 17th December.

Road Races
- 4th Feb - Novice - Ballyfin AC.
- 25th Feb - Intermediate - St Abban's.
- 25th March - Senior - Oughaval (to be held in Fisherstown).
- 8th April - Masters - St Michael's.

Ballyfin AC

Strength and Conditioning Training
Strength and Conditioning Training is back for the winter and will continue in The Ballyfin Community Hall every Wednesday from 8pm to 9pm, bring a weight and an ab wheel if you have one. These classes are great to assist in core strength and compliment other sports as well. €5 per session - well worth it! Please spread the word to anyone who you feel may be interested in coming along.

Senior Training
If you want to get into running or want to take it up again after a break, all runners are welcome to come along to any of our training sessions.  So why not give it a go, come along and get up and running.

Training schedule
Tuesday 7.30pm meet at St Fintans Car Park, Portlaoise (opposite Portlaoise Prison).
Thursday 7.30pm meet at St Fintans Car Park, Portlaoise (opposite Portlaoise Prison).
Sunday 10.30am meet at Emo Court Car Park.
Training session can vary from 6k or 10k runs, on Road or Grass, or also take in Fartlek sessions.

Ballyroan Abbeyleix and District AC

Leinster senior and uneven ages
We had good numbers in the Leinster senior and uneven ages in Adamstown, Wexford today. The day got off to a wonderful start when Sorcha Maloney won an individual gold in the girls U-19 race. Cian McDonald and Shane Bowe were up next in the U-19 Boys with Cian coming home 7th and helping his county to a gold team medal. In the girls U-13s Faye McEvoy ran a brilliant race to come home in 4th. Niamh McDonald was 13th in the Girls U-15. We had four seniors out in action. Siobhan Burke 40th in the women's and in the senior men’s race we had Noel Burke (60th) Paul Burke (62nd) and John Kirwan (83rd). Well done to all that ran on a tough testing course.

First Aid Kit
Portarlington Pharmacy has kindly sponsored a first aid kit for the club. The club would like to sincerely thank Portarlington Pharmacy for their generosity.

Training
Training continues every Monday night 6.45pm-7.45pm for our younger athletes. Training for our older athletes includes Strength Training in Vicarstown Hall on Wednesdays; Technical Training on Friday Nights in Emo and Performance Squad training in Vicarstown on Sunday mornings.

National Indoor Arena Track Events
Rory Morrissey was back on the track last week. He took part in the first of the National Indoor Arena timed track events, running a mile in 4:48.52 and finishing 3rd in his race.

Downey’s Nissan/Laois Athletics Medal Presentations
Some of our young athletes were at an event hosted by our county sponsor, Downey’s Nissan, to receive their cross-country team medals from this year’s Laois championships. The following athletes received medals on the day; U-11 Girls: Torie Lee, Ellie Boland, Patricia Conroy & Gabjia Appleby; U-12 Girls: Chelsea Lee, Torrie Lee, Ellie Boland, & Rachel Feery; U-18 Boys: Colin Grennan, Adam Holden, & Curtis Lee.

Leinster Senior and Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships
Ten of our athletes who made the long trip to Wexford last week, and competed for the club at the Leinster championships were: Chelsea Lee, Curtis Lee, Paul Conroy, Patricia Conroy, Michelle Conroy, Anthony Conroy, Darragh Bloomer, Colin Grennan, Adam Holden, & Rory Morrissey.
Colin and Adam were part of the Gold winning Laois county team of four, with Cian McDonald and Sean Sheridan. Thanks to all who made the trip to support us.

Club Training
Training takes place every Monday & Wednesday evening from 7 to 8pm at the community running track in Smiths Field Mountmellick. All are welcome and we cater for all ages and abilities from seven years up, so feel free to come down and take a look at what’s going on. You can come along and try it out for a couple of nights before joining. Oughaval AC

Leinster senior and uneven ages Cross Country
Adamstown, Co. Wexford was the venue for Last Sunday's Leinster Senior and Uneven ages cross Country Championships. On a very testing course, in Baltic conditions, Oughaval brought home two medals. Cathal Connaghton continued his good form, winning an individual medal in the U-17 race, finishing in 11th position. Oisin Jago had a great race, and he finished in a very impressive 18th position. Orla Fennelly ran well in the girls U-17 race, finishing in 34th place. Sean Sheridan finished 24th in the boys U-19 race and was part of the gold medal winning Laois team-along with Cian McDonald, Adam Holden and Colin Grennan. Very well done to the lads and Orla.

Portlaoise AC

Day 3 of the Leinster Cross Country
On Saturday the 12th three of our athletes travelled to Adamstown for the Leinster Senior and Junior cross-country. Amy Walsh finished just outside the top twenty in the U-19 girls race while Mary Mulhare returned to competition after a break, finishing 2nd in the senior lady’s championships. Tom Lupton continued his good form finishing strongly in sixteenth position in a tight competitive senior men’s 10k.

Parkrun
Well done to those who ran in Vicarstown last Saturday. First home was Paul Cuddy in a time of 18:20 mins followed by Tom Lupton in 19:21 minutes and Niall Kavanagh at 21:40. First Lady was Lucy Dunne, another great run in 24:44 with Elaine Moore next for club at 27:54 and Nuala Arrigan at 30:41.

Junior Parkrun
In the Junior Parkrun on Sunday, Grace Meade was first girl home followed by Leah Smullen, Tara Ring, Rebecca Marshall who got another PB, Rachel Ann Harrison and for guys it was Harrison Marshall and Ross Ring, the Tuesday and Thursday night sessions are paying off.

Remembrance Run
Well done to Ursula & Aoife O'Malley, Claire Dunne, Martina Gardiner, Julieka Cahill Reid and Michelle Howard who took part in the recent Remembrance Run in the Phoenix Park.

Training
Cross Country training twice a week, text will be sent out regarding times and venues.

St Abbans AC

Leinster Cross Country
It was the turn for the uneven ages and senior athletes to contest Leinster cross country championships in Adamstown the weekend last over a tough and heavy course.
In the U-11 Rachel Ayres was 42nd, Jessica Murray finished in 50th place, Katie McGrath was 88th and Aishling Crawley was 95th. In the boys U-11 Timmy Byrne finished in 56th and James Kehoe was 123rd. In the Girls U13 Audrey Byrne was 86th, Aoibhin McDonald was 115th and Holly Brennan was 152nd. In the Boys U-13 Jack Fenlon was 4th, Eoin Cawley was 22nd, Lee Murray was 24th and Adam Buggy was 49th. Seoige English was our sole runner in the U-15 girls and she finished in 35th place. Orla Davis finished in 25th place in the girls U-17 race.
In the senior ladies’ race Colette English was 31st, Sinead Kelly 38th and Catriona McDonald 49th while in the senior men’s Stephen Hunter was 12th and Coin Coyne was 29th.

Results from abroad
Some weekend results from club athlete abroad. Cormac Kelly was 55th in the NCAA regionals in a time of 31.47, with Lamar University finishing 8th team overall and some great running from Cheryl Nolan over in the Surrey League, running sub 22 minutes for 6km (Cross Country), finishing 5th in Division 1 and helping her club (Hercules Wimbledon) to a 3rd place finish.

St Michael’s AC

Senior Training
Senior training takes place twice each week from 7pm to 8pm. Tuesday training takes place at the Heritage Hotel Killenard, meeting at 7pm in the back-car park. Thursday Training for the next few weeks has been postponed until further notice. New members are always welcome at any time, just turn up at one of our training sessions, and give it a go!
Senior members still meet each Saturday morning at 9am in the Lidl car park (beside Odlums) for a long steady run. Distance range from 5K to 20K, and anyone is welcome to join in for an easy run and a friendly chat on the scenic country roads and forest trails around Portarlington, Emo and Killenard.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON U-8 TRAINING
U-8 training will no longer take place on a THURSDAY evening’s due to lack of trainers. They cannot be put up to older age groups for this reason. The only U-8 training is on a Monday evening
