EVERY Tuesday in July Birr Theatre and Art Centre will be hosting art talks. For all those who say the words “I don’t get it….” or “what’s that about…” along with more experienced appreciators of art, Birr Theatre and Arts Centre is presenting a series of talks on contemporary art facilitated by Patricia Hurl and Therry Rudin giving a brief history of western art from the mid-twentieth century up to today.

Talk 1 took place yesterday but there are a number of other talks happening throughout the month. Talk 2 is the The Art of Change - The Death of Painting: Civil Rights and Women’s Liberation. This takes place on July 10 from 7pm to 8.30pm. Talks 3 and 4 are about the next 30 years, including Art and the Rise of Performance, Conceptual Environmental and Lens Based Art. They take place on Tuesday July 17 and Tuesday July 24. Talk 5 is about Art Now, Practice, Installation, Video and Large Scale Performance Art and this takes place on Tuesday July 31 from 7.30pm – 9pm. For more see www.birrtheatre.com.
