Dunamaise hosts Red or Black event

Eamon Dunne and Niamh Griffin

Eamon Dunne and Niamh Griffin

THE Dunamaise Arts Centre will this Friday night be hosting their major fundraiser Red or Black in the Heritage Hotel. This fun, live game show will be a great night out to kick start the festivities for St Patrick’s weekend and confirmed entertainment acts for the night will include Abbeyfolk, Vocalese and Eamonn Dunne and Niamh Griffin.

The musical groups performing on the night will add to the fun and drum up the atmosphere in what will be a great event with local community groups and celebrities competing in fun games and challenges to support the county’s arts centre. Tickets are on sale for the event and all support is greatly appreciated.

Abbeyfolk have been going since the 1980s and have clocked up thousands of miles playing all over the country. They have supported such acts as The Fureys, Wolfe Tones, Don Maclean and recently The Kilkennys.

Also performing will be Vocalese who are a vocal trio comprising Vivienne Graham, Georgina Ireland and Nuala Kelly who have already performed in Ballyfin House, the Durrow Scarecrow Festival, the International Eucharistic Congress in the RDS, Aherlow Gospel Festival, Newbridge Musical Society concert, The Cuisle Centre Concert and Abbeyleix Library along with radio slots on Midlands 103. Niamh Griffin and Eamonn Dunne will also entertain guests on the night. Formed in 2012, Niamh and Eamonn travel a musical line that joins the dots between easy listening Jazz, Broadway, Blues and more. Red or Black will be hosted by hurling legend and RTE Sunday Game analyst Michael Duignan and starts at 8pm at Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. This is a night not to be missed with all proceeds are in aid of Dunamaise Arts Centre. Tickets are €15.
