Dunamaise’s open meeting

editorial image

IT’S been a busy few months at the Dunamaise. Louise Donlon, director of the past 13 years, moved on at the end of April and the board undertook root and branch reviews of the organisation to define Dunamaise Arts Centre’s successes, challenges and future plans.

As a result of these, the centre is organising a public open meeting on Wednesday September 26 at 8pm to update their supporters and stakeholders on the current situation. The centre believes that local people form the core of the Dunamaise community and organisers are hoping that people will come along to learn about and participate in the next phase of the Dunamaise’s life.

Organisers are now appealing for some of those individuals and groups to consider dedicating some of their time and talents for the Dunamaise to ensure that the facility continues to serve them and the surrounding community.

The centre is also organising a Christmas fundraising auction, in conjunction with Laois Tourism, on Tuesday November 6 in Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. They are also appealing to people and businesses to assist and support them by offering their help (in volunteering for the night) or offering a product or service as a lot for us to auction or raffle.

Those interested in helping can contact the centre, as well as anyone who would like any further information. The centre number is 057 86 63355 or www.dunamaise.ie.
