Durrow have stars in their eyes

'Imelda May' who performed at last year's Stars in your Eyes

'Imelda May' who performed at last year's Stars in your Eyes

THE stars will be shining brightly not only in the sky, but in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow next Saturday night, when some of Durrow’s most musically minded take to the stage for the annual Stars in your Eyes event.

Some of the world’s greatest superstars including Sting, Thin Lizzy, Bruno Mars, One Direction and John Denver will take to the stage of the Castle Arms. With doors opening at 8.30pm and the performance starting at 9pm, a superb night’s entertainment is guaranteed for the audience.

All 24 participants have been working hard rehearsing over the past two months, meeting every week. As well as planning and practicing their tracks, each of the performers also take great care to ensure their stage outfits add to the spectacle. There is a great variety of performers this year, with people from their 20s right up to their 60s taking to the stage.

Most of the performers come from Durrow, but there are also a few from the surrounding areas. As well as plenty of entertainment from the stars on stage, the audience can also dance until the early hours with a DJ keeping the party going afterwards.

This is an over 18s event, due to licencing laws.

All money raised from the night will go towards planting daffodills and hedging on the Cork and Kilkenny roads leading into Durrow. Planting has already begun on these roads. Last year’s daffodills planted on the Abbeyleix Road provided a welcome burst of sunshine and colour last spring.

Tickets priced at €10 will be available on the door on the night.
