Film award for Heath filmmaker

Tom Byrne and filmmaker John Hennessy

Tom Byrne and filmmaker John Hennessy

THERE was good news recently for filmmaker John Hennessy from The Heath whose film ‘He Moved Through The Fair’ was awarded Best Short Film at the Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire.

Amongst a crew of exceptional young writers, actors and filmmakers, ‘He Moved Through The Fair’ stars Tom Byrne of Stradbally as Mike, a local drunk and disbeliever in all things mystical.

Filmed in the Stradbally woods and Vicarstown, the film draws strongly upon elements of Irish mythology that are both dark and entertaining. The story follows Mike as he vents his inebriated contempt for myth after overhearing some fireside faerie tales at a local tavern and is promptly thrown out of the bar. Dejected and drunk, he follows a strange woman through the countryside where he becomes faced with an evil he had never even dared believe before. Battling with dulled senses he tries to determine what’s real and what’s not and, most importantly, can he escape?

The film was produced by Trench Entertainment and Kerbute Productions. Kerbute is a production company which was set-up and run by John himself with Lucy Jones from Dublin and has, for the past four years, been involved in all kinds of filmmaking ventures from weddings and music videos to corporate advertisements and the reels have no signs of stopping yet.

After four years of professional experience, a best film award and a new documentary in pipeline, its certain that this won’t be the last people hear from John Hennessy and Kerbute.
