THE Dunamaise Arts Centre will be presenting a festival of fun filled activities for children and families from October 17 to November 3 with workshops for school children and families by Graffiti Classics; Adrienne Geoghegan and RoArts; a spooktakular Halloween children’s show Jackula; a screening of Disney’s Jungle Book and a parent and toddler creative session.

RoArts will kick start the festivities with Terrific Toddler Time on October 16 at 11am. This will be a creative crafts class, which will help the parent explore and expand their toddler’s creativity. The class will involve children’s crafts for both the parent and the child. This class will be suitable for children aged between two and five, accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided and included in the cost which is €5 per child.

Children are invited to an exhibition of work by illustrator Adrienne Geoghegan who will also lead a workshop (sold out) for school children to collage a story from October 17 to November 3. Adrienne creates a whole new realm of possibility with improbable materials and found objects. Adrienne was shortlisted for the McMillan prize in Children’s Picture Books. Her work has been translated into many languages, and Adrienne continues to create ideas for picture books.

Music Generation Laois and Barboró present Graffiti Classics on Friday 19th October for school children aged over 3 years. 16 strings, 8 dancing feet and 4 voices with 1 aim: to shake the dust off classical music and enable kids to enjoy and develop their own musicality with fantastic flair, finesse and frivolity. Graffiti Classics bursts the boundaries of the traditional String Quartet, making classical music fun. For more contact 057 86 63355.
