Degas will be discussed at the first lecture

THE spring series of history of art lectures in the Gandon Gallery in Killenard will begin on Monday March 25 at 6.30pm. The lectures run for six weeks and the subject matter includes ‘Degas: Painter and Sculptor’, ‘The Female Impressionists’, ‘Seurat: Joining the Dots’, ‘Braque: Picasso’s Wife and Rival’, ‘Jackson Pollock’, and ‘Jeff Koons: Art or Kitsch’.

Dr Ciaran Woods, art historian, will deliver the lectures. This is Dr Woods’ fifth year delivering the lectures. Dr. Woods previously lectured at The Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin but now lectures at UCD, The National Gallery, Merrion Square, Dublin and The Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin. He leads History of Art Groups on trips to Europe and it is hoped to have him lead this group on a short trip this summer, depending on demand.

The lectures take place at the theatre at the Heritage in Killenard. Cost is €90 for six lectures. They run from 7pm each Monday with refreshments from 6.30pm. Phone 087 273 5385 or email bpryan2@eircom.net for more.
