Liam Reilly of Bagatelle will be in Delaneys this Thursday

GRELLAN Delaneys in Portlaoise will this Thursday evening play host to the infamous Liam Reilly of Bagatelle who will be performing in the bar as part of the venue’s Song Collectors sessions.

Liam Reilly was the founding member and lead singer of Irish super group Bagatelle and has penned such hits as “Second Violin” “Leeson Street Lady” and the classic “Summer in Dublin”. He also wrote and performed “Somewhere in Europe” for Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990 coming second.

The Song Collectors is a show in which some of the country’s most accomplished song writers take to the stage in very intimate surroundings and perform some of there best known songs as well as speaking briefly to the audience about their inspirations for songwriting.

Previous artists to perform include Mike Hanrahan of Stockton’s Wing, George Murphy (You’re a Star), Francie Conway and John Spillane. Local acts who have played support include James O’Connor and Dave Bowe, both of whom are well known and popular musicians in Laois and beyond. Local support this coming Thursday, November 1 comes from Fingelton and Salmon. Also on the night performing will be Pat Fitz from You’re a Star.The show will be hosted by accomplished Cork singer Roy Buckley who despite being so young at just 26 has earned the respect of some of the country’s best songwriters and with some big names in the pipeline for upcoming shows Tickets are available from Delaneys, priced at €10.
