New album launch for Adela

Adela and the Meanits

Adela and the Meanits

AFTER finishing up their momentous tour last August, Adela and the Meanits have announced the release of their eagerly awaited debut album, entitle ‘Kinda Wild’. To celebrate the release of their debut album the band are hosting a free gig in Kavanagh’s, Portlaoise on Friday October 12 with special guests Arrow in the Sky.

Their tour dubbed ‘The Long Road Home Tour’ saw the band complete a 5000km tour that covered all 32 counties in Ireland. The group consisting of Adela Meally, Barry Hayes, John Davidson and Ros O’ Meara, did the tour in just 28 days throughout the month of August. The band were amazed at the reception they received in diverse venues such as pubs, arts theatres, heritage/shopping centres, national and local festivals and even a church.

Since completing the tour, the group have fast become one of the most surprising live acts to grasp the attention of audiences in every nook and cranny of this island. “If it has been undertaken before by an Irish band then it has been lost in the mists of time” said the Irish Times.

Never a band to sit back on their laurels, Adela and the Meanits also performed at ‘Gifted Live’ on Oct 4. This is a new ‘online music show’ hosted by BBC presenter Phily Taggart which is broadcasted live and direct from the stunning Belfast Empire Music Hall.

Those who havent yet seen the band live should get to Kavanaghs this Friday night to catch their eclectic and energetic set. Visit the group’s Facebook page for more information and visit www.kavanaghsportlaoise.com.
