The Portlaoise Pantomime Group commence their preparations for the 29th annual production with the holding of their first rehearsal next week.

Jack and the Beanstalk is this year’s production and the first rehearsal takes place on Tuesday, October 9 in St Paul’s Primary School on on the Borris Road from 8pm sharp.

The Portlaoise group hopes to build on the hugely successfully 28th panto. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs drew in a phenomenal 2,500 paying customers over the 11 performances at the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

As with 2012 and previous years, next January’s show should be no exception since the group have built a big reputation for song, dance, comedy, laughter and all round entertainment.

Jack and the Beanstalk will run at the Dunamaise Centre in Portlaoise from Saturday, January 19-26 next. The run includes nightly shows (8pm) and three matinees (2.30pm) on over the two weekends.

A number of children will be involved in the production and auditions for their parts will be held at St Paul’s NS on Tuesday, October 16 from 6.30pm.

Children from 4th class in Portlaoise Parish primary schools are invited to audition for the roles. Children are not requested to attend the rehearsals on Tuesday, October 9.
