KILLENARD based artist Pat Fox was celebrating recently when one of his pieces was accepted by Dublin City Council to be hung on the walls of the Mansion House in Dublin.

The painting is entitled ‘Dublin in the Rare Aul Times’ and there are a number of prints available as well. Pat’s inspiration for the painting came from working alongside songwriter Pete St John, famous for ‘Dublin in the Rare Aul Times’, ‘Fields of Athenry’, and ‘The Ferryman’.

Friends for a number of years, Pete asked Pat to creative some pieces using his work as inspiration. The result is a depection of a very different bustling Dublin city centre. A reception was recently held in the Mansion House to celebrate the work, and was attended by the newly elected Lord Mayor of Dublin Naoise O’ Muiri, as well as the Canadian ambassador to Ireland and a number of other dignitaries.

Pat was delighted with the reception his painting received. “It is a real honour to have the painting hanging permanently in the Mansion House, and we had a lovely evening up there to celebrate it”.

Pat is a self taught artist who paints in oils. His subjects include landscape, seascape, townscape and portraits. He was recently commissioned by Laois County Council to paint an aspect of St Peter’s Church in Portlaoise for its bicentenary, which was presented to President Mary MacAleese.
