Star studded show for Cuisle
A star studded cast of singers and musicians, some of whom have performed in the four corners of the world, will feature in a fundraising event in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, on November 16 next at 8.30 pm. Headlining the event, are The Vard Sisters who will be supported by singers and musicians from at home and abroad.
This is a gala occasion and it is one which will provide a memorable evening of music and song. The list of artists includes Triona Marshall, Harpist, Charles Marshall, Organist, Herbert Hall, Cellist, Emer Dunne, Vocalist, Mary Marshall, pianist and harpist, Patricia Finnegan, Vocalist, The Portlaoise Gospel Choir, and Vocalese, a trio of vocalists who are all members of the Portlaoise Parish Contemporary Choir. This is the second major fundraiser which the Laois Writers Group have undertaken, to raise funds for the Cuisle Centre in Portlaoise.
“We launched ‘Pulse of Life’ which is a an anthology of writings by members of the Laois Writers Group in November last and this proved to be a tremendous success, with a sum of over €3,000 from the proceeds of the book being donated to Cuisle”, said Margaret Cotter, Chairperson of the Writers Group.
