The Garden Sessions’ musical delights

THE Garden Sessions have just announced some of their line up for this year’s festival which will be taking place in the Chestnut Bar in Birr.

Acts performing at the festival include Hello Moon, Neil Hannon, A Band Called Wanda, The Mandolas, The Gandhis, The Walls, Daithi, I’m Your Vinyl, Marc O’Rielly, Winterking,Katie Kim, Ronan O’Snodaigh, Daniel Martin Moore and many more.

The festival is held in aid of the Offaly Hospice, and organisers have gathered a motley crew of talented, gifted and masterful musicians, some who are established and some on their way to a’coup de grace’.

Hospice Care is when the focus has shifted from treatment aimed at cure to ensuring quality of life. It seeks to relieve the physical symptoms of illness while equally addressing the persons emotional psyhosoical and spiritual needs. The Garden Sessions 2012 will take place from Friday September 7 to Saturday Spetember 8.

This weekend of musical treats takes place over two days in the beautiful setting of the rose walled garden of The Chestnut in Birr, Co Offaly. Tickets are priced at €25 each night or €40 for two nights, and fans can pre book their tickets on the The GardenSessions facebook page. Limited tickets are available as capacity is 100 people.

This intimate music experience has over the years had the pleasure to indulge in the intonations of many a gifted musician to name a few. Mundy, Freddie White, Declan O’Rourke, Fred, Q, Ger Wolfe, Roesy, The Pale. Some of these acts generously gave their time to record on The Garden Sessions CD which made a healthy profit and donation to The Irish Hospice Foundation.

Some of last year’s line up included We Cut Corners, Cathy Davey, Whipping Boy.
