THE Durrow Scarecrow Festival and the Electric Picnic have been nominated in the Irish Times The Ticket Awards 2012.

This year’s Durrow Scarecrow Festival was very successful with attendance in the region of 13,000. Over the 10 day festival, there were 120 scarecrows, 33 workshops, 19 events and five musical acts. It is nominiated for the Best Festival of the Year.

The festival has put Durrow on the map as thousands descend on the village from all over the country each summer to see the scarecrows and take part in the festivities.

The other big event in Laois nominated for an award is the Electric Picnic.

Anyone can vote in these awards and all people have to do is visit www.theirishtimes.com/theticketawards to vote for Durrow. The competition closes at midnight on Sunday December 16, and the awards will be announced on Friday December 21.
