aoife Cleary from Kilmainham, Mountmellick beat all the competition at last week’s Galway races, to take first prize as Most Stylish lady last Wednesday, August 1.

The 26 year old Special Needs Assistant at Mountmellick Community School was thrilled at her big win, which came out of the blue. Aoife was picked from the huge crowd in Ballybrit along with four other finalists by a team of judges from the fashion industry.

“I was just sitting eating my dinner, they pulled me out and took my details. Later there was a photo shoot, then I was interviewed on RTE, then they announced me as the winner live on television,” she said.

Aoife, a daughter of Mick and Winnie Cleary, admits she is a big fashion fan.

“I like to keep up on trends, I do spend a lot of my money on clothes! I love colourblocking and splashes of colour,” she said.

She wore a royal blue dress from Warehouse, with bright orange shoes from Office and bag from Aldo, boldly contrasted with a pink hat by milliner Jennifer Wrynne.

She was awarded for her fashion savvy with gift vouchers for a vintage dress and a hat designer, diamond earrings and a €1000 voucher for fashion shed.ie who sponsored the competition.

“I couldn’t believe it, it was all very surreal,” said Aoife, who works part time in Dunnes Stores in Portlaoise, and plans to start her Masters in Primary Teaching in Brighton next September.
