Saturday last, 26th January, saw Petmania Portlaoise launch their ‘Paw Prints’ campaign to raise funds for Cara Rescue Dogs and support for animal welfare in Laois. For just €1.00 pet owners were asked to add their pet’s name and paw print to their wall, showing their commitment to caring for their pets and helping to prevent other animals from suffering like Taylor.

Petmania Store Manager, Aisling Muldowney says: “We’re delighted that so many people have gotten behind our Paw Prints Campaign. We have raised over €400 so far, and we do hope that more of Portlaoise’s pet owners will come out in support of Cara and Taylor and show their commitment to responsible pet ownership. It costs just €1 to put your pet’s Paw Print on our wall”.

Earlier this month Cara Rescue Dogs found Taylor, the three month old lurcher, sandwiched between two stone walls in a housing estate in Portlaoise. The charming puppy had suffered an extreme and vicious attack before being left to die. This little puppy made an almighty recovery with the help of the veterinary team at Vet Care Athy.

Now, four weeks later the puppy who has received huge support from all over Ireland met his supporters in Petmania Portlaoise this Saturday. Taylor was full of fun for everyone he met on the day and is now ready to settle down with his new loving family.

Jennifer Scanlon, who is adopting Taylor said on Saturday that she “just can’t wait to get him home”. Jennifer was a Petmania Portlaoise on Saturday to introduce Taylor to his new “sister” Betsy.

Based in Laois, Cara Rescue Dogs are a group of hardworking animal lovers that put all their energy into saving orphan dogs and cats. Taylor is just one of many unwanted pets that Cara have had the pleasure of caring for, and Cara Rescue Dogs meet every second Saturday in Petmania Portlaoise to speak with those interested in adopting a dog.

The volunteers from Cara are blown away by the support they have received over the past few weeks, and
