A LOCAL TD has urged a Laois town to look to Kilkenny for tourists rather than trying to attract vistors to Laois.
Speaking to Positivity Durrow last week Sean Fleming urged the town to develop a Kilkenny connection.

“Durrow can feed off all the number of tourists who come to the Kilkenny city area,” he said. The TD added that Durrow can be a big draw for tourism and it would be “a natural thing” to bring people up the River Nore to Durrow.

“I would say to develop the Kilkenny link. As a Laois man I think it goes against the grain but I think there is something that can be tapped,” he said.

Just last week the prestigous Lonely Planet guide found that Laois is often overlooked by tourists but has a lot to offer.
