Birr based artist Caroline Conway is currently exhibiting at the library in Abbeyleix.
Caroline trained at Edinburgh College of Art before moving to Ireland with her painter husband, Jock Nichol. In recent years Caroline has been awarded Per cent for Art Commissions at Emo NS, the South School, Abbeyleix, and Scoil Chriost Ri, Portlaoise. These were large scale, brightly coloured carved interior artworks, designed in consultation with the schools. This exhibition was inspired by Cabinets of Curiosity, the precursors of modern museum, which were eccentric private collections of natural and man-made objects, often including a number of hoaxes. The exhibition runs for the month of April. Caroline will be showing an expanded version of this exhibition at the Mountmellick Library Gallery in July.
