The Music Generation Laois School of Rock and Pop was officially launched by Jack L last week at the Portlaoise Youth Cafe.

The new school offers affordable group lessons in guitar, keyboard and drums, and caters for beginner, intermediate and advanced students.

Young people in Laois also get the opportunity to develop their musical talents, by providing music lessons, mentoring, performance opportunities as well as once-off workshops in songwriting and music technology.

Rosa Flannery, co-ordinator of Music Generation, said: “We already have a great group of young people involved, some of them keen beginners who show so much potential and other young musisicans who have been performing for some time,” she said.

Based in the Portlaoise Youth Café, Music Generation has the support of Youth Work Ireland Laois.
