Learning to play or just honing your talent, but also developing self-confidence, are just some of the big reasons to sign up to Music Generation Laois' Summer Camps 2016.
The School of Rock and Pop kicks things off on Monday, July 4. It runs to Friday, July 8 from 11am-3.30pm at the Dunamaise Arts Centre. Suitable for age 10-18 year olds, it costs €60.
From Monday, July 11 to Wednesday July 13 the Portlaoise Youth Education Centre on Railway Street in Portlaoise hosts a Stampede Drumming Camp. All instruments are provided at the camp run by Eddie O'Neill. It is suitable for 11-15 year olds and costs €30.
Finally, from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17 a Trad music summer school runs at the same Youth Education Centre in Portlaoise.
This features workshops in fiddle, harp, uileann pipes, bodhrán, concertina, flute and accordian.
Tutors include: Harry Bradley, Siobhán Buckley and Claire O'Donnell, Denise Boyle and Aidan O'Donnell, Barry Leonard, Nollaig McCarthy, Noel Hill and Séan Hill.
The school is suitable for children aged 8 upwards, it runs each day from 11am to 3pm costing €60.
