An exhibition of paintings, entitled Night Shade Sound Scape by Leitrim-based artist, Dorothee Koӧlle will open on Friday, July 29 at 2.30pm, in the Laois Arthouse, Stradbally.
Enda Coyle-Greene, poet and winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Award in 2006 will officially launch the exhibition, before Dorothee will give a short talk on her practice during the opening at 2.30pm.
The exhibition displays paintings, collages, assemblages, and an installation, different aspects of the creative process, which reflect the gallery space, the artist environment, and outer and inner experiences.
The work is also inspired by music and the inherent qualities of the materials, juggling elements in a playful way until a certain balance is achieved.
"Spontaneous creation, contemplation and analytical reflection go hand in hand during the process of working,” explains Dorothee.
“It is a constant juggling between flexibility, openness, control and boundaries. The idea of a journey, of travelling without knowing the outcome, is reflected in searching and discovering different approaches in my varied practices.”
This is Dorothee's fourth solo exhibition.
The exhibition runs at the Arthouse from Friday, July 29 to Friday, August 19.
