Find Laois’ next young voice

THE Durrow Development Forum will this weekend be presenting the grand final of the Young Voice of Laois, which will take place in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on Saturday April 21. This event forms part of a large fundraising effort by the Durrow Development Forum to raise funds for the rejuvenation of the Square in Durrow.

THE Durrow Development Forum will this weekend be presenting the grand final of the Young Voice of Laois, which will take place in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on Saturday April 21. This event forms part of a large fundraising effort by the Durrow Development Forum to raise funds for the rejuvenation of the Square in Durrow.

This competition in organised in association with the Laois School of Music. The winner will receive the Ronan Lawlor perpetual cup, voice training with the laois school of music, a €100 cash prize and an opportunity to sing at Laois School of Music’s 10th end of year concert, as well as at the All Ireland Scarecrow Festival in Durrow. This year there are 16 finalists and the standard in very high, which will guarantee a great night’s entertainment for all.

The Durrow Development Forum are also running their first ever golf classic in Rathdowney Golf Club on Friday June 1 and Saturday June 2. Plans are also well on their way for the group’s annual All Ireland Scarecrow festival, which organisers hope this year to make bigger and better. This year’s festival will run from Saturday July 28 until Monday August 6. For this Saturday’s show, doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm.
