july 5 sees the launch of The Song Collectors Sessions in The Outback in Delaney’s Portlaoise which will bring a host of national singers to Portlaoise while also giving local acts a break.
Set to take place on the first Thursday of every month, the sessions are the brain child of Cork-based musician Roy Buckley who will also be presenting the show.
The organisers say the sessions will show case some of Ireland’s most established singer songwriters as well as some up and coming acts.
Each show features three acts - two national and one local - taking to the stage to play some of there songs as well as explaing the inspirations for the songs. It gives people and insight into how the songs came about.
The sessions are designed described as being ‘intimate’ gigs with each limited to 60.
The first show sees Mike Hanrahan from the ever popular Stocktons Wing whose hits include Beautiful Affair and Silent Dreams, George Murphy who we all remember from You’re a Star and local favourite James O’Connor finish off a very impressive line up.
Tickets for the first session on July 5 are €10 and are available from Grellan Delaney’s.
