The Portarlington Community Development Association are again running their ‘Jigs and Reels’ event on Sunday October 26, in the Heritage Hotel, Killenard.

Each couple on the night will receive €200 towards a charity or club of their choice and the winning act will receive €1,000 for their chosen recipient. Apart from helping the PCDA people will also be helping many charities by being there on the night.

Two couples, Deirdre and Nathan Connolly, and Anna Marie Shiels and Aidan Reilly, have chosen the Ben and Jake Connolly Allan Herndon Dudley Syndrome as their chosen charity. Margaret Lawlor Behan and David Sheerin have chosen HOPE (Help Other People Endure Depression). Aisling Higgins and Amie Moran will be dancing for the Irish Cancer Society.

The father and sister of Lisa Bracken, who died of bowel cancer aged 20 last year, Pat and Tanya Bracken have chosen to fundraise in her name to St James Hospital’s Walter Stevenson’s Ward.

They are all undergoing rehearsals by Irish dancing teacher Kara Burbage.
