Bar Habana have a very busy summer of music, fun and frolics ahead, and kicking things off this weekend are James O’ Connor who is playing on Saturday and Lounge Act who are playing this bank holiday Sunday.

James is a well known and loved performer in the town who never fails to disappoint with his own tracks as well as a number of covers. James has enjoyed great success over the past few years, reaching number nine in the Irish singles charts and performing at Electric Picnic a couple of years ago.

Lounge Act will be ripping it up on Sunday with members Eugene, Niall, Benny and Jerry playing their eclectic mix of covers. Lounge Act are primarily a tribute band that formed through their admiration of the band Nirvana. They formed in 2010 and have played around Portlaoise as well as down the country. In keeping the set list constantly fresh and interesting, Lounge Act currently are trying to re-create the energy and chaos that was arguably Nirvana’s most legendary gig, their Reading Festival appearance in 1992 by playing pretty much the whole set list in order that they played it that night. The second half of the set consists of some songs and anthems from the 90’s including songs by The Hives, Supergrass, The Lemonheads and The Cure. A great night is guaranteed.
