THE Walls will be performing tonight, Wednesday August 8 in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. One of Ireland’s most respected and successful bands, The Walls were formed by brothers Steve and Joe Wall after the demise of their legendary, multi-platinum band The Stunning.
The Walls have graced the stage with Bob Dylan, Crowded House and Red Hot Chili Peppers in the US, Europe and Australia. After six years The Walls third album Stop The Lights was finally released, and has been described as having a sense of positivity. Tickets for this gig are priced at €18 and are available now from the centre.
Tomorrow and Friday see the centre host ‘A Lady of Letters’ by Alan Bennett. Meet Irene Ruddock; a letter writer, single, middle aged, middle-class, middle-income and meddlesome. Meet the neighbours, the chemist, the policemen and Bridget “a lifer”. This solo show, performed by Maeve O’Donovan and directed by Dara Carolan is a hilarious and intriguing drama with a twist. This is a lunchtime show. See www.birrtheatre.com.
