Mountmellick is set for an influx of colour and creativity as local yarn bombers will be taking to the streets with knitting, crochet and yarn designs to decorate the streets.
The group has been set up locally and organisers are holding a meeting this Wednesday, July 9 at 8pm in the Druid Inn. Everyone is welcome to come along and share their ideas, as well as get up to date information on the project.
Those who can’t knit or crochet, fear not as people can make items out of yarn. Organisers have said that the only design rule for the project is that there is no design rule.
According to the group’s Facebook page, there have been lots of enquiries already.
“People are contacting us asking what kind of things they will need to make, must it be knitted, must it be crocheted, what will we actually yarn bomb? Come along to the meeting Wednesday night: all ideas will be considered. We will be brainstorming. So, some ideas for those of you who feel like yarn bombing your own homes maybe - hearts for your front lawns, ‘handle warmers’ for your front door.”
