Portlaoise Toastmasters club held a most entertaining competition Monday night, September 22.

Brian Holland introduced the audience to his guest, an alien who with the help of extra terrestrial technological advances was able to be with us.

Mark Bastow humoured us with the difficulties he and his travelling companion encountered while travelling by plane.

Maintaining the travel theme Mary Heaney provided great hilarity with her speech which highlighted the embarrassments one may have to endure while passing through security at airports. Donal Cahill provided great comedy when he illustrated how a new bride has the wherewithal to chisel away her husband’s “rough edges”.

After the break Ciaran Dickinson hosted an innovative and challenging table topics session.

Mary Heaney & Donal Cahill (Humourous speech); Mary Killeen & Mary Crowley (Table Topics) will now represent the club at the regional competition in October.

Guests are most welcome to our next meeting on Monday, October 6 at 8pm in the Killeshin Hotel.
