THE Square Bar will this weekend be hosting a group of popular, well known local musicians who have come together to share their love of ‘Madchester’.

Love Spreads, the Portlaoise based band who pay tribute to the music of The Stone Roses, will be on stage at the venue on Saturday December 8. The Stone Roses played a pivotal role in the history of the UK’s indie music scene and they also have a massive following in Ireland.

While the group are not interested in trying to emulate what the The Stone Roses wears and look as such, their main objective is to play their music as close as possible to the great band themselves and to put on a good show for Stone Roses fans old and new alike. Each individual member has vast experience in playing the local music circuit in various bands and it could be said their individual styles are akin to the members of The Stone Roses themselves.

Although based in the midlands, Love Spreads have been taking their show farther afield, and will play all over the country. Feedback to their gigs has been very positive so far and they are in the process of realising a promotional video showcasing their talent with hits like I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs The Drums, Waterfall and This Is The One. As well as this weekend’s gig, the group will also be in The Stables in Mullingar on December 16; Bar Habana on December 22 and Lennons in Durrow on December 29. For more on any upcoming gigs in The Sqaure Bar visit their page on Facebook.
