BIRR Theatre and Arts Centre will be hosting two entertainment heavyweights over the coming days with a performance from Pat Shortt as well as a show with Liam Lawton.
Pat Shortt’s new one-man comedy show charts the life of Dixie Walsh (Jumbo Breakfast Roll, Where Did My Money Go) a solo lounge musician. The show is a tribute night to Dixie where all his peers and friends (the audience) come to celebrate his career. During the night Dixie reminisces about the path his career has taken and the struggles he has had to endure to get to the top of his game.
Until now the much loved Dixie Walsh was a character who appeared in two of Pat’s sell out shows - “You Won’t Get Away With That Here” and “The Hall “. Tickets for the show on Saturday May 5 are priced at €30 and are available now from the centre.
On Tuesday May 8, the theatre will be presenting Liam Lawton’s 20th anniversary tour. For twenty years now the name Liam Lawton has been synonymous with sacred and inspirational music. Liam’s haunting melodies and lyrical texts have earned him many accolades and praise from many quarters. This special 20th Anniversary tour celebrates the songs and their stories, many of which have become identified with special and significant events in the history of the last 20 years.
Also as part of these celebrations Liam has produced an audio book ‘Prayers of Hope and Healing’. This is a series of reflections and prayers with beautiful orchestral music based on his book ‘The Hope Prayer’. This promises to be a moving night of reflection and song and one not to be missed. Tickets priced at €20 are available now. For more information on these or any of the events taking place in Birr Theatre, visit www.birrtheatre.com.
