Carlow Little Theatre Society have been busy over the Christmas break rehearsing their production of Calendar Girls.
The play will run at the GB Shaw in Carlow from Tuesday January 21 to Saturday January 25 inclusive.
“Calendar Girls” is based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire women, members of a Chapter of the Women’s Institute, who produced a nude calendar in 1999 to raise money for leukaemia research. The play, written by Tim Firth, is based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth and focuses on the activities of a small town chapter of the Women’s Institute.
This well known drama society will do its bit for local cancer charities, with its presentation of the play on Jan 21, the opening night, by giving the profits from the performance to two local cancer charities, Eist and Carlow-Kilkenny Homecare. If people support the night up to €2500 can be raised for these causes.
The cast includes Keelin McDonald, Marie Moore, Joanne Stanley, Aoife Reddy, Mary Doyle, Margaret McKenna, Gillian Doyle, Anne Gleeson, Irene Donohue, Larry McNally, Deirdre Keane, Marc Grogan, Paul Dunne.
