THE popular Triogue Delta Blues Band will be back to play in Lethean on Sunday evening, June 10. Always a popular group with local audiences, the boys have enjoyed great success in their short time together as a band.

They formed to play a one off gig for the Heyday festival two years ago, but the reaction and performance prompted the lads to consider a more permanent union. The group consists of blues veterans Brian Doody on guitar, Eamonn Dunne on guitar, Aidan Doody on drums, Ciaran Hyland on vocals and Frankie McNally on bass. The band play a selection of blues by artists like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Howlin Wolf, Eric Clapton, T Bone Walker, Van Morison and many more.

The music the band plays is heavily influenced by the blues men of the Mississippi Delta and the area along highway 61 nicknamed the blues highway. Adding the Triogue into the name the lads feel they are tipping their hat at the hugely talented pool of musicians from the Portlaoise area.
