ORGANISERS behind The:Space in Laois Shopping Centre have a huge smile on their faces as the first exhibition to take place in the venue has attracted big crowds and lots of positive feedback.
The exhibition by Portlaoise Camera Club has been running in The:Space for the past two weeks and will be open until this Saturday. Those who have not yet seen it should head over to Laois Shopping Centre to see the wealth of talent on display from the camera club. The exhibition has work from both novices and more experienced photographers, and features a number of different styles of photography including macro, landspace, portraits and some creative work.
As well as showcasing the work, each of the prints are also on sale with proceeds going to worthy charity Loffa. Already a number of prints have been sold and the charity already has lots of plans for the proceeds.
Nearly 30 members are exhibiting and almost half of those are new members. The exhibition has also captured the imagination of many other budding photographers and club chairperson, Ciara Drennan told the Leinster Express that Portlaoise Camera Club have welcomed some new members in the past couple of weeks.
The:Space itself is also attracting plenty of interest and will see a new exhibtion opening there very soon. Organiser David Delaney is delighted with the exhibition’s reception so far. “It is great to see The:Space being used, it brings to life an empty unit and provides potential for local artists. It is brilliant to see the support and interest in the exhibition, and The:Space is a great showcase for groups like the Portlaoise Camera Club to utilise,” The exhibition runs until this Saturday June 9.
