CASTLETOWN GAA Club Social Initiative along Richard Ryan Promotions will be presenting ‘The Pitch’ on Saturday August 25 in Castletown Community Hall.
The Pitch is written by Shane Connaughton and is directed by Kerry Crabbe. Set in Cavan, the play tells the story of Philly Halton ‘a renowned Gaelic footballer in his own mind’. This poignant tale of an old man living in isolation on his own land with forces conspiring to relieve him of the very pitch on which he played his greatest games. The Maguires his bitterest enemies have hatched a devious plot to consign him to a nursing home for the rest of his days.
Castletown GAA Club has organised this event as part of the Club’s Social Initiative. It is a riveting drama covering several themes, including rural isolation, the GAA, aging, land ownership, Irish mothers, the supernatural and resentment, to name but a few.
Tickets are priced at €10 and are available now. Contact Monica Delaney at 086 2438582 for more details.
